Life nowadays is stressful, and most of us know how this can progressively impact our health and overall sense of well-being.
Massage Therapy is unique as it not only facilitates relaxation in the body but that it creates an enhanced awareness of the mind-body-spirit connection. This awareness is essential in healing the body holistically and giving us tools to manage life's continuing challenges.
I invite you to further explore the details of my massage practice and look forward to working with you!

why massage therapy?
Among its many therapeutic benefits, massage calms the nervous system, moving us into a state of deep relaxation which encourages breathing more easily and fully.
Massage alleviates pain and tension by direct manipulation of affected muscles, tendons, ligaments and connective tissues. Nerve receptors in the tissues transmit messages to the nervous system which causes stimulation and release of brain chemicals (neurotransmitters), such as endorphin (the body's natural painkiller) and serotonin (helps to reduce stress, anxiety and depression). Levels of stress hormones - such as adrenalin, cortisol and norepinephrine - are also reduced. Massage also increases cardiovascular circulation, supplying more oxygen and nutrients to the body's tissues. Massage also promotes the flow of lymph (the clear fluid which supports immune system function throughout the body), decreasing swelling and increasing our body's defenses against infection and disease.
In addition, massage is used as a complementary treatment in:

- Promoting recovery from injuries (work, repetitive stress, trauma or sports-related)
- Reducing pre- or post-surgery adhesions and swelling as well as minimizing and realigning scar tissue
- Relieving symptoms of many conditions, such as hypertension, asthma, arthritis, osteoporosis, sciatica, fibromyalgia, (peri)menopause
- Reducing the negative side effects of cancer treatment
